A dozen representatives from Mexico were in Montreal yesterday (September 10) to promote the destination and its new products at a Road Show attended by more than fifty travel consultants and tour operators.
The Eastern Canada tour, which began in Montreal at the InterContinental Hotel, continues today in Ottawa and Thursday in Toronto.
The event is orchestrated by CREATURISMO, a company of the CIE group, responsible for the organization of the International Fairs in which Mexico participates as a country, as well as the Tianguis Turística México.
Reconnecting with tourism professionals
The objective of the Canada Road Show is to reconnect with tourism professionals and re-establish the promotional momentum that existed before the disappearance of the CPTM.

Presentations
The event was attended by Tania Lara, Consul for Economic and Political Affairs, who provided a brief message to the attendees, also highlighting the importance of Canadian tourism for Mexico, as the second tourist market.
In addition to the popular Riviera Maya, other destinations to consider in the coming months are La Paz and Los Cabos. Air Canada has been operating direct service between Montreal and Los Cabos since last December.
The Mexican Caribbean in the spotlight
This promotional tour was mainly attended by representatives of hotel groups and associations.

Melania Mora Flores, from President Group, presented part of its portfolio of 24 hotels. Among the new hotels is the Intercontinental President in Monterrey, which will open this winter.
The President Intercontinental Cozumel Resort has also recently undergone a major $25 million restoration; the 221-room hotel now has new, elegant rooms, a new pool and a new restaurant.
The Intercontinental Cancun hotel borders beaches “that never have algae because of their location,” Flores insisted. “Therefore, agents can be very calm when it comes to selling these properties to their customers.”
Another novelty that might interest adventurers concerned about comfort is that the group now offers luxurious glamping experiences in San Miguel de Allende and Xtojil.

The Cozumel Hotel Association came to present the largest island in the Mexican Caribbean. From the beginning, Cozumel has been a first-rate diving destination, with 26 important reefs. On land, the island is also a natural paradise, with 60% of its territory protected.
The destination also lends itself to sports tourism. An important bike path surrounds the island, which also hosts numerous events, including a major Ironman competition. The destination is also proud to be perfect for intimate and romantic sunset weddings. Some 18 hotels dot the island, the largest with just 300 rooms.
With more than 130,000 hotel beds, the Mexican Caribbean includes a dozen paradises (Holbox, Costa Mujeres, Cancun, Gran Costa Maya, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Maya Ka'an, Riviera Maya, etc.) and 4 international airports (Cancun, Cozumel, Chetumal and Tulum).
It also has the second largest coral reef in the world, 2,500 cenotes and, now, the famous Mayan train. This 1,554 km train connects the beaches of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum with the Mayan archaeological sites of Chichén Itzá and Palenque, with the objective of promoting the development of the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo. It has 34 stops that link 117 tourist experiences and 50 archaeological sites.

In Viva Resorts by Wyndham We are clear that you always eat well! The two hotels located in Playacar offer a multitude of activities. The Viva Azteca has 334 rooms and 5 restaurants, and guests have access to the facilities of the Viva Maya, located next door. As for the latter, its 604 rooms are undergoing major renovations, highlighted Valerie Ward, the company's Business Development Manager in Canada.

As taxis are not allowed at Cancun airport, it is essential to book your own transportation if it is not provided by the hotel. To this end, Cancun Shuttle has come to promote its shuttle and private transport services. The company now also provides service in Tulum.
Focus on Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit

On the part of Delta Hotels by Marriott, Carlos Eguiarte gave a dynamic presentation of this property in Riviera Nayarit. The first Delta chain establishment to offer an all-inclusive package, the 170-room hotel now has 212 rooms with the addition of a new building. Located amidst a lush natural environment, the hotel has 12 swimming pools. It is not located directly on the beach, but it is located near La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

Mercedes Alcántar highlighted the portfolio of Alsol Hoteller. The Mexican chain has seven hotels, four of them on the west coast, three in Puerto Vallarta and one in the Riviera Nayarit.
Mexico City in the foreground

César Castañeda Vázquez del Mercado presented a portrait of Mexico City. This vibrant city continues to generate the largest tourist GDP in the country, with two airports and 60,000 rooms in 784 hotels. In addition, the city has 4 sites declared World Heritage by UNESCO: the city center, Lake Xochimilco, the Studio House designed by the architect Luis Barragán and the National University.
